Designed specifically for healthcare providers and professional rescuers, the HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) course teaches the essential knowledge and hands-on skills needed to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies.
Students will learn high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, effective team-based resuscitation techniques, proper AED use, relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking), and the fundamentals of managing respiratory and cardiac arrest. Through instructor-led practice and realistic scenarios, participants build the confidence and competence needed to respond in both in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
HSI's BLS program is based on the latest internationally recognized resuscitation science and treatment recommendations and is intended for:
- Healthcare professionals
- EMS personnel
- Firefighters and law enforcement
- Public safety professionals
- Nursing and healthcare students
- Anyone whose employer requires Basic Life Support certification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a 2-year HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.
Time commitment:
- 1–2 hours online
- 45 minute skills session
