Complete the online learning portion anytime, anywhere, and at your own pace. HeartCode® allows you to learn the course material on your schedule before attending a brief, instructor-led hands-on skills session.
HeartCode® courses are not online-only certifications. They are a blended learning program that combines online education with a required, in-person instructor-led skills evaluation.
Upon successful completion of both the online course and the hands-on skills session, you will receive the exact same American Heart Association Provider eCard issued to students who complete the traditional classroom course. Your certification is valid for two years and is accepted by employers, hospitals, schools, and healthcare organizations that require American Heart Association certification.
HeartCode® courses are developed by the American Heart Association using the same evidence-based science and educational standards as traditional classroom courses. The online learning adapts to your progress while preparing you for the required hands-on skills evaluation with an AHA Instructor.
Every HeartCode® student must successfully demonstrate all required skills during an in-person instructor-led skills session. This ensures that every student not only understands the material but can also perform lifesaving skills competently and confidently.
Yes. HeartCode® is a blended learning course, not an online-only certification. While the knowledge portion is completed online, every student must attend an in-person instructor-led skills session to demonstrate proficiency in all required skills. Only after successfully completing both portions will the American Heart Association issue your official Provider eCard. This is the same certification awarded to students who complete the traditional classroom course and is accepted anywhere an American Heart Association Provider certification is required.
