PALS is intended for healthcare professionals who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units that encounter pediatric patients on a regular basis. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion eCard, valid for two years.
HeartCode® PALS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the AHA’s PALS Course. HeartCode® blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace. Providers first complete the online portion of HeartCode® PALS and then complete a hands-on skills session with an AHA PALS Instructor or a HeartCode® compatible manikin.
The HeartCode (blended learning) option is generally designed for first-time students, while the traditional classroom course—with required precourse work and online exam—is better suited for renewal students.
HeartCode requires online learning from the AHA which is followed by an in-person hands on training. The eLearning costs $173 and the in-person costs $145. We offer hands-on a variety of times throughout the week, usually at 9am. You can complete the online learning anytime, from anywhere. The hands-on takes place in our classroom.
The PALS Provider Course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills. The course includes a series of case scenario practices with simulations that reinforce important concepts.
The PALS course is conducted in a classroom setting and requires full completion of all precourse requirements, including the online exam, prior to attendance. This blended approach allows students to complete the cognitive portion at home before participating in an in-person hands-on skills evaluation.
The hands-on session typically takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to complete.
